Below Average: Driving refinement, infotainment offering

Consensus: Boasts a touch of sophistication and plenty of tricks up its sleeve

The 2018 Honda CR-V remains a favorite for a number of reasons. It’s priced right, offers a roomy interior and cargo area, sips gas and earns top marks for both crash test results and resale values. So good is the CR-V that it won KBB’s Small SUV Best Buy of 2018 award. However, the CR-V’s equipment list is missing features like a panoramic moonroof and Bose audio, both of which are available on the 2018 Nissan Rogue. And, while the Rogue lacks the CR-V’s optional turbocharged engine, it does offer a high-mileage hybrid model that is nowhere to be found in the CR-V lineup. Both SUVs offer must-have driver assists such as lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking, but only on the more expensive trims. The Rogue also lays claim to the title of America’s best selling compact crossover.

The Rogue and CR-V both earn good scores for resale, reliability and fuel economy, plus they’re both attractively priced

Honda CR-V Advantages

Strong resale figures, excellent safety scores, comfortable ride, peppy turbocharged engine

Nissan Rogue Advantages

Lots of high-end features, comfortable seats, best-in-class hybrid fuel economy, EZ-Flex seating

Final Recommendation

If you’re all about value, safety and reliability, the CR-V is the crossover to get. However, the Rogue has a lot to offer in the way of comfort and convenience items, standard safety systems plus a high-mileage hybrid option.
