Although details are sketchy, Pininfarina has released this teaser image of a new two-seat, one-off that it will formally reveal at the Geneva Auto Show. The car, which will kick off the Italian Carrozarria's 80th anniversary as well as help celebrate Alfa Romeo's 100th year in the business, is intended to pay homage to the longstanding relationship that has linked these two organizations. Little else was revealed about this diminutive roadster, except that it will be based on existing Alfa Romeo mechanicals -- quite likely the current Spider -- and reflects Pininfarina's contemporary interpretation of a classic sports car theme brought up to 21st century spec.
In addition to this slick Pininfarina show car, the automaker plans to add even more eye candy to its centennial commemoration by displaying two more striking one-offs, both as yet unseen. One reportedly will be a coupe designed by Bertone and based on its stillborn Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione supercar while the other is expected to be a unique take on a four-door sedan as envisioned by Italdesign Giugiaro.
