Once known as the Hyundai Genesis, the Genesis G80 is now part of a full luxury line

Just as Toyota did with Lexus, Hyundai has developed its own upscale brand: Genesis. The midsize G80 is one of two cars to go on sale with the new nameplate, with more models to follow. The G80 is essentially the same car known until last year as the Hyundai Genesis, and still separates itself from the pack by offering luxury amenities, an excellent warranty and V6 or V8 power at lower prices than rival models from Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

Driving It

The Genesis G80's mix of potent power, roomy interior and upscale features puts this sedan squarely in line with its competitive set. "With the 2017 G80, the automaker has a vehicle that can truly compete among high-end luxury sedans. With a ride more oriented toward comfort than performance -- think Lexus GS vs. BMW 5 Series -- the G80 is an excellent highway companion. But with its rear-drive layout and potent V6 or V8 engines, it never feels lacking in power." Read more in our full review.

Build and Price

The 2017 Genesis G80 starts around $42,000 with a V6 and rear-wheel drive and tops out under $56,000 with all the amenities plus V8 power. Build and price your own G80 right here at KBB.com to unlock its Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price, 5-Year Cost to Own and more.

What’s Next

Going on sale in spring 2017, there will be a third Genesis G80 model. The 2018 3.3T Sport will be offered with a 365-horsepower twin-turbo V6, shift-by-wire transmission, sport-tuned suspension and unique styling cues inside and out.

More Midsize Luxury Options

The G80 is the new kid on the block, kind of, but it’s ready to take on long-time favorites like the Lexus GS, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6. Check out KBB's Midsize Luxury Sedan Buyer's Guide before picking a favorite.
