Raptor fans rejoice. The wait for an even-more-potent variation on this desert-dominating pickup theme is now over with news that first of the new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor models with the 411-horsepower/6.2-liter V8 has officially gone on sale. While the original Raptor that develops 310 horses (320 on E85) from its 5.4-liter V8 was hardly a slouch, the new 6.2-liter Mega-Raptor that corrals 411 ponies and ups the torque figure from 365 (390 on E85) to 434 lb.-ft. is definitely a cut above. Ford says that over 7,000 customers have ordered Raptors to date, with nearly 3,000 of them preferring to wait for this ultimate, 6.2-liter desert stormer. First to grab one of this latest Raptor variant was NASCAR driver and truck enthusiast, Greg Biffle.
"There are a lot of customers patiently waiting to get their 6.2-liter F-150 SVT Raptors, and they won't be disappointed," said Mark Grueber, Ford F-150 marketing manager. "The 6.2-liter's performance perfectly complements the Raptor's unique off-road capability, and will blow our customers away. We're working hard to get the trucks to our customers as soon as we can." As previously announced, pricing on the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor with the new 6.2-liter V8 starts at $41,995, a $3,000 premium over one fitted with the base 5.4 engine.
