Ford Fiesta ST Concept - Frankfurt Auto Show

Surprising and delighting all in attendance, the Ford Fiesta ST Concept made its debut in Frankfurt. Previewing a logical and even more affordable alternative to the Focus ST, this feisty would-be forerunner draws its inspiration from the current Ford Fiesta World Rally Championship (WRC) entry. Although not quite as intense as that 295-horsepower beast, the Fiesta ST Concept does have what it takes to hold its own in the looks-hot/drives-great arena, thanks to its ST-spec body and dynamic suspension enhancements. As for its go-power, nothing is certain at this stage of the game. However, the performance goals for any production derivative based on the Fiesta ST Concept would be to have its 1.6-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder turn out about 177 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Backed by a six-speed manual transmission, Ford is projecting this well-engineered one-off will run 0-60 mph in less than seven seconds and have a top end in excess of 136 mph.

With the Focus ST and the Fiesta ST, enthusiasts will immediately understand what a Ford ST model promises and what each model shares in terms of balanced performance feel, style and driver features," said Jost Capito, Ford director of global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Development. "We've developed both vehicles from the same DNA. They are born performers that know how to make drivers smile."
