The all-new, 2009 Audi A4
is only just starting to arrive on our shores and already the German automaker is tempting us with pics and specs of the 2010 Audi S4
performance model that won't make its way to America until Fall 2009. The big news is a move away from the outgoing S4's V8 to a supercharged 3.0-liter V6. We're guessing the small, two-percent decrease in horsepower (now 333 hp) will be more than validated by 23 additional pound-feet of torque (now 325 lb.-ft.) and, presumably, better front/rear weight distribution. Other new features will include an available seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (a six-speed manual will also be offered), adjustable engine, suspension and steering response, and an available new quattroSport rear differential that can vary torque between the rear wheels. Sportier exterior and interior treatments will be part of the package, of course, but wagon
lovers will be saddened to learn the S4 Avant won't be joining the sedan
on its journey west.
