First Look: 2009 Ferrari California

The newest California is the first Ferrari with a retractable hard top, and also the first with an engine mounted in the mid-front position, ahead of the driver but behind the front wheels. That engine is a 4.3-liter V8 that sends close to 460 horsepower to the rear wheels via a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission, and propels the California to 60 mph in under four seconds, according to Ferrari. There's no word on pricing as of yet, but rest assured it will come in far south of the $11,000,000 recently paid by British broadcasting personality Chris Evans for a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder once owned by American actor James Coburn.
