Fiat 500s bring pear trees to New York City, partridges not included

As a way to effectively curry civic favor while helping promote its new Fiat Gallery in the SoHo arts and fashion district, Fiat North America has contributed eight 12-foot pear trees to the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and New York Restoration Project's MillionTrees NYC program. To remove all doubt about the identity of the donor, each of the trees resides in its own high-profile temporary planter modeled after the new Fiat 500 Cabrio that was introduced two weeks ago at the New York Auto Show. These pristine white car-size containers and their respective pear trees are currently located on Canal Street and the Avenue of the Americas. However, only the trees are destined to remain in place permanently.
