BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept teased

Paying tribute to one of the automaker's most iconic Coupe models from the 1970's, the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage will debut late next week at the 2015 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Cernobbio, Italy. Crafted by the BMW Design Team with inspiration from that stylish, lightweight overachiever, the 3.0 CSL Hommage promises to match aggressive cues with a variety of advanced lightweight materials. While offering only this single image, BMW says makes a bold statement withsculpted bodywork framed by "striking air deflectors, powerful wheel arches and a prominent roof and rear spoiler."

The light-makes-right philosophy that permeated the original 1971-75 3.0 CSL - which enjoyed as much success at the track as it did on the street -- also is part of the cabin treatment found in this modern Hommage. Despite "technical supremacy and formal sophistication," BMW describes its character as "rigorously pared-down," and claims that all elements are absolutely essential to either the vehicle's structure or its driving experience. We'll have more when the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept is unveiled.
