Aston Martin confirms 2018 RapidE electric vehicle
Aston Martin has signed a memorandum of understanding with tech partner LeEco that paves for the electric-powered Aston Martin RapidE to enter production in 2018. According to Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer, the firm is dedicated to developing a range of cars with low emission technologies and he believes rolling the RapidE into showrooms by that date will serve as “an important milestone for both companies.”
Since it was unveiled last fall in concept form, Aston Martin and LeEco (formerly known as Letv) have continued to explore production feasibility for the sleek RapidE including tech solutions for its powertrain and battery systems. If successful, this latest linkup is expected to lead to more EVs from Aston Martin and the China-based LeEco operation. The technology may be used to help the fledgling EV startup Faraday Future.
