Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati Limited Edition - 2012 Geneva Auto Show
A high-performance variation on the Fiat 500 Cabrio that features an elegantly premium twist, the Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati Limited Edition makes its debut in Geneva. A collaborative effort that will be built in a run of just 499 vehicles, the Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati carries on in the tire tracks of a similar Fiat 500-based offering, the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari, that debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. Conceived to embody all of the refined character of the Maserati GranTurismo/GranCabrio S, the new 695 Tributo offers buyers a far more affordable alternative package that's even better suited to serve as a daily driver.
Finished in Maserati's Pontevecchio Bordeaux applied using a special three-layer process that helps it better reflect light and intensifies its shine, the 695 Tributo is crowned with a custom gray fabric power soft top. The car is fitted with xenon headlamps and wears 17-inch performance rubber on special lightweight alloy wheels that feature a Maserati Neptun design.
Inside, well-formed bucket seats covered in supple sand-beige Poltrona Frau leather are set off by Pista Grey interior panels rendered with a special UV-LUX flocking treatment and complemented by carbon-fiber trim bits on the dash and console.
Completing the cabin makeover are a black leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with electronically activated paddle shifters, a Jeager-design instrument cluster, aluminum pedals and sill plates, a premium audio system and various "695" badges/logos, including one plate with the car's series number on it. In keeping with its character, the Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati also comes with a unique Tramontano Tribute to Abarth Travel Pack that consists of two stylish grey leather travel bags.
To ensure a proper level of behind-the-wheel scintillation, the 695 Tributo is fitted with a modified version of the Fiat 500's 1.4-liter Turbo T-Jet 16V engine that cranks out 180 horsepower and is paired with an electrically-activated Abarth Competizione 5-speed manual gearbox. A sport-tuned suspension and bigger Brembo brakes add to that dynamic while the special Record Monza variable back-pressure "dual-mode" exhaust system adds its own bit of aural excitement above 3,000 rpm and exits via a set of custom chrome outlets done in a hexagonal shape that mimics the Maserati signature look. Following its official press reveal, additional details on the Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati will be available at the www.abarthspecialties.com website.
