2019 Range Rover SV Coupe: Retro exclusivity
The 2019 Range Rover SV Coupe, a nearly $300,000 SUV that Land Rover describes as the most exclusive Range Rover ever, debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. This stylish, luxurious and collectible 2-door, 4-passenger SUV will be available in the fourth quarter this year. U.S. pricing begins at $295,000. Hand-built at the Special Vehicle Operations Technical Center in Warwickshire, United Kingdom, the SV Coupe will have a production run of only 999 units sold globally.
With unmistakable historic looks, the SV Coupe is a modern take on the iconic Range Rover design that bowed in 1970. The new model features a floating roof design that allows for a panoramic glass greenhouse. The power-close doors are fitted with frameless glass. Exterior colors such as a Contour Graphic design in four duo-tones help set off the uniquely designed grille and side vents.
Range Rover said all of the aluminum exterior panels are new except for the hood and lower tailgate. A new grille showcases a Brunel Metallic rear mesh and Bright Chrome front mesh, surrounded by a Satin Indus Silver metal. The hood and tailgate script also are handcrafted. New to Range Rover is Liquesence, an optional liquid metal exterior paint finish. Customers can select one of eight exterior paint colors for the SV Coupe, four of which are new to Range Rover.
For performance and looks, ride height on the SV Coupe is 0.31 inches lower than the standard Range Rover. And with air suspension, the ride height automatically lowers an extra 0.6 inches at speeds of 65 mph, boosting stability and aerodynamics. Four alloy wheel options are available, ranging from 21- to 23-inches, the latter being the largest offered by Range Rover for the first time.
The ultra-premium and crafted look and feel is evident in the interior, where buyers will have many choices to customize the SV Coupe. For example, there are four front-to-back, light-to-dark, contrasting interior colors available or buyers can select from single tone schemes. The choices are complemented by one of three wood veneers, including a new Nautica veneer that fuses walnut and sycamore, on the steering wheel rim and center console. A 10-inch infotainment screen, 10-inch control panel, 12-inch interactive driver display and Head Up display help the driver navigate.
The SV Coupe’s semi-aniline front leather seats feature a special diamond quilt design and are heated and cooled with 20-way power adjustment. The rear seats feature 10-way adjustable positions. Clients also can opt for one of seven design packs that feature exterior paint, bespoke badges and interior materials selected by Jaguar Land Rover designers.
Powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, the SV Coupe is the fastest full-size Range Rover. With 557 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, the SV Coupe accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds flat. Its top speed is 165 mph. An 8-speed automatic transmission is mated to the engine and features a rotary selector and paddle-shifters. The SV Coupe has full-time 4-wheel drive feature a two-speed transfer case and Active Locking Rear Differential help the luxury SUV coupe perform on various road surfaces, terrain and weather.
