- V6 diesel promised

Ram will be keeping its previous generation 1500 pickup in production concurrently with the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 by designating these models as Classic when the new model year begins in this fall. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles truck division had been selling the 2018 Ram 1500 pickup as the production of the all-new 2019 model ramps up.
This fall, that older truck, known as the DS model as opposed to the all-new DT, will be called the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic and will be available in four trim levels, Tradesman, Express, Big Horn/Lone Star and the SSV (Special Services Vehicle).
Three new trim packages will also be introduced. The Chrome Plus package will be offered on Tradesman models and it includes chrome bumpers, body colored upper front fascia and 17-inch wheels. The Tradesman SXT adds on the Chrome Plus package, a 5-inch radio screen, fog lamps, dual exhaust on V8 models and 20-inch chrome wheels. The Express Black Accent package on Express models includes black wheels, headlamp bezels and badging.
Three cabs and bed lengths
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic is available in Regular Cab with either an 8-foot or 6-foot 4-inch bed, Quad Cab with the 6-foot 4-inch bed, or Crew Cab with either a 5-foot 7-inch short bed or an optional 6-foot 4-inch bed.
“As we launch the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, we didn’t want to walk away from a key part of the light-duty truck market” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand — FCA. “Ram will continue to produce the 1500 Classic targeted at entry and commercial buyers.”
The trucks will again be offered with a choice of rear- or 4-wheel drive, 3.6-liter V6 or 5.7-liter V8 engines. FCA promises that an optional 3.0-liter V6 diesel will be available later. Pricing will be announced closer to the vehicle’s launch this fall.
