2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Geneva Bound

The updated 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan made its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show. In addition to exterior tweaks, the C-Class also features engine upgrades, new features in the interior and an expanded roster of driver assist technology on both the C300 and Mercedes-AMG C 43 sedans.
The styling changes are minor, new front and rear bumper designs and standard LED lighting, while models equipped with AMG-Line upgrades come with a diamond-point grille pattern. There will also be two new exterior colors offered, along with new standard 17-inch twin 5-spoke wheels.
Beneath the hood, the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine on the C300 has been improved to provide 255 horsepower, a gain of 14 over the previous model. The engine also produces 273 lb-ft of torque which is delivered to the rear wheels or to all four corners in 4Matic trim through a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 2019 Mercedes-AMG C 43 boasts 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque from its twin turbo 3.0-liter V6. It comes equipped with the AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission.
New driver assists
Borrowing Intelligent Driver Assist technology from the larger E-Class, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers active distant assist cruise control, active blind spot assist, which uses single-sided braking to avoid collision and active steering and lane keep assist. Also available on the C-Class is active brake assist with a cross-traffic function, lane change and evasive steering assist, pre-safe plus which pretension belts if an imminent rear collision is detected and pre-safe sound which uses a sound to trigger a protective reflex in the ear to mitigate hearing loss in the event of an accident.
The new C-Class is also equipped with Car-to-X Communication, which transmits and receives signals from like-equipped vehicles and infrastructure to provide additional early warning of potentially dangerous situations.
The new interior features a center console outfitted with flowing trim in either natural grain walnut or gray oak real wood veneer. New colors for the interior includes a Magma Gray/Black on standard models, while AMG-Line interior offers Saddle Brown and Silk/Beige treatments. The 2019 C-Class has keyless start with a new turbine-look design to the stop/start button as well as a new key fob design.
The C-Class adopts the digital display layout of the current S-Class using a standard 7-inch Comand screen with a 10.25-inch screen optional. There is also an optional 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster similar to the S-Class that offers three different display styles "Classic," "Sport" and "Progressive."
All 2019 C-Class Sedans are equipped with a new multifunction leather steering wheel with Touch Control Buttons that respond to swiping motions like the screen of a smartphone. They enable drivers to control the functions of the instrument cluster and of the entire infotainment system without having to take their hands off the steering wheel. Drivers can also now operate the adaptive cruise control directly from the steering wheel. Additional control of the infotainment system is through the touchpad and controller with haptic feedback in the center console. Voice control is also available and has added functions like seat heating to the command roster.
The AMG C 43 comes with all-wheel drive biased 31/61 rear torque distribution. These models ride on 18-inch wheels and come with an AMG Performance steering wheel and AMG Ride Control. Also available is wide range of options including carbon fiber exterior accents, a blacked-out Night Package, a data recording track app, peformance seats and exhaust system.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan is expected to arrive in the U.S. by the end of 2018 with pricing announced closer to its on-sale date.
