2019 BMW X4 M40i M Performance Revealed
BMW continues to refresh much of its lineup and will show the 2019 BMW X4 M40i M Performance for the first time in North America at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. This performance model is a variant of the all new BMW X4 the company debuted at the Geneva Motor Show.
Due in U.S. dealerships this summer, the 2019 BMW X4 M40i M Performance boasts new, sportier proportions, a wider track and a new suspension. The new 5-seat crossover has a lower center of gravity and improved aerodynamics.
BMW’s redesigned 2019 X4 is 3 inches longer, 1.4 inches wider and its wheelbase stretched 2.1 inches over the previous model. The 2019 BMW X4 M40i M Performance receives the X4’s updated front looks with a large, 3D-like kidney shaped grille, angled headlights and fog lamps combined into the outer air intakes. As the performance version, the X4 M40i also receives some distinct design elements including aerodynamic front and rear aprons and side skirts along with high-gloss black accents.
This model is also distinguished by Cerium Grey mirror caps and front air intake trim inserts, model badging in the door sills, plus M pedals and a M driver’s footrest.
In-line six power
The crossover is powered by an inline 6-cylinder engine generating 355 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. The small SUV is quick to respond to accelerating from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. An 8-speed automatic Steptronic Sport transmission includes standard Launch Control and sequential shift paddles on the steering wheel. All X4 M40i models feature BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. With standard 19-inch light-alloy wheels, the X4 M40i is equipped with M Sport brakes, Adaptive M Suspension with electronically controlled dampers that adjust to road and driving style, standard M sports exhaust system and variable sport steering.
Inside the roomier cabin, BMW has made improvements to ride comfort and the passenger experience. The 2019 X4 M40i M Performance has a larger panoramic moonroof and for the first time offers a 3-zone climate control. The interior also boasts M specific sports seats, a sport leather steering wheel, standard BMW Individual headliner in an anthracite color and aluminum and chrome accents.
Several driver assist safety packages are available, as are options such as a heated steering wheel, front and rear heated seats, 20-inch M double-spoke bi-color wheels or 21-inch M double-spoke gray wheels. Pricing for the 2019 X4 M40i begins at $61,445 including destination and handling, just slightly higher than the 2018 model.
