An all-new generation of Audi’s flagship sedan, the 2019 Audi A8 will go on sale this fall featuring a new design approach for the German luxury auto maker. Derived from the Prologue show car, the new A8 features a new take on the division’s traditional single frame grille, which is now a more horizonal hexagon. The clean, tailored look of the exterior is carried over into the cabin, which uses a new dual screen setup with MMI touch response to reduce the number of buttons on the dash and console.
The new A8 will be offered only in the European long-wheelbase body style, where it measures 123.1 inches between the axles and 208.7 inches in overall length., Power comes from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V8 making 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. That output is delivered to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The A8 is unique in that it has a 48-volt electrical system designed to support its Belt Alternator Start system that uses a large motor to run the stop/start system and assist vehicle performance. Pricing starts at $83,800 plus delivery.
A twin-turbo 460-horsepower 4.0-liter V8 will also be offered on the 2019 Audi A8, but those models won’t be available until next summer.
