2019 Acura MDX vs. 2019 Buick Enclave Comparison
2019 Acura MDX
Starting Price: $45,295 | Price yours
Above Average: Reliability, good resale, a ton of premium amenities and decent safety features that undercut most of the fancier German brands
Below Average: Less cachet than BMW, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz, seats only 7, tows no more than 5,000 pounds
Consensus: Sure, it has less label recognition than some European competitors but the Acura MDX gets points for reliability and above average resale.
2019 Buick Enclave
Starting Price: $40,995 | Price yours
Above Average: An American 3-row SUV with seating for 7, a sense of style combined with the ride and handling of a midsize sedan
Below Average: No more than 7-passenger seating, not-so-great fuel economy, and no standard driver-assist features on base models
Consensus: The Buick Enclave offers luxury and styling at a reasonable price.
When it comes to reliability and resale Acura (under the Honda brand) has both in spades. The Acura MDX gets a new 9-speed automatic transmission for 2019 and its stop/start system has been further refined to make the feature faster. It also comes with a standard V6 engine and has an advanced AWD system that makes the MDX feel more athletic than it might appear to be. All models come with standard AcuraWatch, a host of active-safety features that include forward collision warning, automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Inside you get ample passenger room and comfortable seats — especially those in the front with 14-way adjustments. While the infotainment and climate control system takes some getting used to, overall the 2019 Acura MDX is a good bet for hauling 7 people. The 2019 Buick Enclave offers a smooth ride, powerful engine and comes well equipped. At the Avenir trim it rivals the MDX. However, the 2019 Buick Enclave falls behind the MDX in the standard safety features department. In order to get things like blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert you have to step up to the second trim level, the Buick Enclave Essence. Inside the Enclave you get a lot of luxury touches including a padded dash and wood and chrome accents, and Buick’s Quiet Tuning process makes the cabin an incredibly silent place to spend time.
Luxurious touches both inside and out for both the Acura MDX and the Buick Enclave make either one a good buy.
Acura MDX Advantages
Safety and driver assist features come standard on the Acura MDX even at the base level.
Buick Enclave Advantages
Luxurious, spacious interior and an incredibly quiet cabin make the Buick Enclave a really good bet.
The Acura MDX edges out the Buick Enclave since it does come standard with safety and driver assistance features at its entry level, and has a strong reputation for reliability. While it is roomier inside, the Buick Enclave is also slightly less fuel-efficient than the Acura MDX.
