2018 Hyundai Kona Shows Face

Following up on its initial 2018 Kona teaser imageHyundai released a new and slightly more illuminating preview of its 2018 Kona crossover SUV model that will be unveiled this summer and arrive in U.S. showrooms early next year. While still keeping most pertinent details about this 5-passenger subcompact hauler under wraps, the automaker said Kona will feature its new progressive corporate design identity, most prominently displayed in the Cascading Grille and aggressively contoured front sheetmetal. Framing it all is distinctive lighting that stacks LED daytime running lights above LED headlamps, although we’re not sure the latter will be standard-issue across the entire Kona lineup.

Aimed at young, active-lifestyle buyers, Hyundai contends the Kona will offer best-in-class interior space and set new benchmarks for B-segment SUV crossovers. It's no small boast, since the competitive segment includes well-established rivals like the Honda HR-VMazda CX-3Nissan Juke as well as the new Toyota C-HR and the upcoming Ford EcoSport. Beyond providing its driver with better sightlines, Hyundai says the Kona also offers superior ride and handling.
