An updated version of the 2018 Ford F-150 pickup has been spotted undergoing development tests in these spy photos. While Ford has introduced a number of enhancements since the aluminum-bodied pickup was introduced two years ago and is slating even more for the upcoming 2017 model in the form of a new 10-speed automatic transmission, a mid-cycle refresh is on track for a 2018 launch.

The sheetmetal tweaks beneath the camouflage appear to give the F-150 a bolder, muscular look similar to the recently launched Super Duty. Other updates are expected to include powertrain changes, with rumors of the introduction of a new 3.0-liter V6 diesel, improvements to the existing 5.0-liter V8 gas engine, and mid-2018 the addition of a hybrid using a 3.5-liter V6. Production of the 2018 Ford F-150 is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2017 at the company’s Louisville truck plant.
