Marking the 65th anniversary of America’s iconic sports car, Chevrolet unveiled a limited-run variant, the 2018 Corvette Carbon 65 Edition. Available on the Grand Sport 3LT and Z06 3LZ Coupe and Convertible models, Chevy will limit production to just 650 units. The Carbon 65 Edition Corvettes feature a selection of cosmetic and functional enhancements including an extra measure of weight-trimming carbon fiber bits.

All Carbon 65 Edition cars will be finished in Ceramic Matrix Gray, with the Convertibles getting a blue soft top. Blue accents also will appear on the fenders, doors and brake calipers of all versions, as will distinctive Grand Sport- and Z06-specific black alloy wheels wrapped in summer performance tires. All versions of these commemorative Corvettes feature visible carbon-fiber ground effects elements, hood inserts and rear spoilers. Roof and rear-quarter intake ducts on the Coupes and the tonneau inserts on the Convertibles are also made of carbon-fiber. Inside, the Carbon 65 Edition boasts Jet Black suede upholstery with blue stitching and gloss carbon-fiber accent trim, a carbon-fiber steering wheel rim and “Carbon 65 Edition” sill plates. Available this summer along with the rest of the 2018 Corvette line, the Carbon 65 Edition adds $15,000 to the sticker price—if you’re fortunate enough to be one of the chosen 650.

As for the other family members, all 2018 Corvettes receive minor upgrades including an improved rear-view camera, enhanced head-up display, additional channels on the available performance data recorder and other detail tweaks. Key changes on the Stingray include making larger 19-inch front/20-inch rear wheels with summer tires derived from the Z51 Package standard issue and offering Magnetic Ride Control as a standalone option. The 2018 Grand Sport offers ceramic brakes as a standalone extra while Z06 buyers can opt for gray interior trim and have the choice of two new wheels. Complete 2018 Corvette pricing will be released later.
