Hoping to add a bit of style and spirit to the mix, the 2017 Smart Fortwo will offer a new Brabus Sport Package for both Coupe and Cabriolet models. Crafted by the well-known German tuning house, this show-and-go grouping adds more visual distinction as well as an extra measure of handling prowess to the diminutive rear-engine 2-seat city cars from Mercedes-Benz, and can be had on Passion, Prime and Proxy trims with 5-speed manual transmission or the 6-speed dual-clutch autoshifter.

On the cosmetic front, this new Sport Package offers a matte grey rear diffuser as well as a bespoke body-color front splitter and rear apron. Inside, the Coupe and Cabrio boast grey contrast stitching on a Brabus 3-spoke multifunction sport steering wheel, brushed stainless steel sport pedals with rubber studs, and Brabus logos on the gearshift knob and handbrake lever. Opting for the Twinamic transmission also nets steering-wheel-mounted shifter paddles.

While no changes have been made to the Fortwo’s standard 89-horsepower turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, the car’s underpinnings have been comprehensively revamped starting with a full Brabus-spec Sport Suspension that complements a 0.4-inch drop in ride height with Brabus-tuned shocks and a stiffer anti-roll bar. Rounding out the mix are staggered-size Monoblock IX alloy wheels finished in matte grey and wrapped in 16-inch 185/50 front and 17-inch 205/40 rear Yokohama performance rubber. The Brabus Sport Package adds $1,900 to the sticker price of any 2017 Smart Fortwo model. It will be available starting this fall.
