2017 Porsche Macan Turbo Packs a 440-hp Punch
Adding intensity to the hottest compact SUV in its lineup, Porsche announced the 2017 Macan Turbo will be available with a new Performance Package that bumps output of the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 by 40 horses and also improves the vehicle’s overall dynamics.
In addition to raising the engine’s total pony count from 400 to 440, the recalibration also increases peak torque from 406 to 442 lb-ft and keeps it all on call from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. Working with Porsche’s 7-speed PDK automatic transmission, that extra motive force reduces the 0-60 mph sprint from 4.4 to 4.2 seconds compared to the standard Macan Turbo and elevates top speed from 164 to 169 mph. The sound is also amped by a sport exhaust system.
Bigger brakes, lower ride
Rounding out the Macan Turbo Performance Package are a bespoke brake system that features larger grooved front discs and 6-piston calipers, a Porsche Active Suspension Management sport chassis setup with a 10mm lower ride height and the automaker’s Sport Chrono Package. Buyers also can opt for PASM with optional full air suspension. In keeping with Porsche’s longstanding tradition for personalization, this new range-topper also will be available with a Turbo Exterior Package the brings 21-inch 911 Turbo design alloy wheels with high-gloss black spokes, full LED headlights equipped with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) Plus and a host of black accents. The Turbo Interior Package is highlighted by black leather and Alcantara upholstery plus unique color appliques and carbon trim bits.
The order books are open for the 2017 Porsche Macan Turbo with Performance Package. Pricing starts at $87,495 -- a $10,445 premium beyond the standard 2017 Macan Turbo.
