2017 Nissan Titan Long-Term Update: Utility inside and out
For such a big truck with an equally bodacious sense of bravado, the Nissan Titan boasts many small cargo and utility features that add up. And they also prove that a truck's handiness can go beyond its bed. While our long-term 2017 Nissan Titan Pro-4X has a slew of handy bed features like the Utili-Track adjustable tie-down system, LED lighting and a retractable bumper-mounted step, the aspects we're highlighting here are on the inside, most of them in the rear portion of its spacious crew-cab.
Versatile back bench
As you'd expect with a crew-cab truck, the 2017 Titan can easily fit three people across its rear bench. In addition to its ample width, there are acres of legroom. Used as a family vehicle, such a Titan could happily shuttle a growing family (though some passengers will need to do a high jump to climb aboard this higher-riding, off-road version of Nissan's full-size truck).
The ways the rear seat flips and folds are to be expected. For example, the bottom cushion raises up against the seatbacks to create a large load floor that can handle tall and bulky objects, all protected because they're inside the cab. I used it for just this purpose when recently moving sentimental stuff from storage. But the devil is in the details, and so is our appreciation for the Titan's utility.
This full-size pickup truck even uses the floor space beneath the rear seat to the best of its ability. There you'll find tough plastic enclosures that can act as small bins to keep bags and smaller items secure. Even better, you can put your stash in these bins and lock them. Fold the seats down, and would-be snoops will never know it's there.
Other touches seem to sprout just as you need them. It wasn't until I'd picked up a suit from dry cleaning and needed a hanger that I saw just that smartly built in to the bottom of the seats.
Room up front, too
Up front, the 2017 Nissan Titan Pro-4X has a large, deep bin between the two front passenger seats. Just in front of that is another bin that can store even more stuff. That's where the main cupholders also reside, and they can be moved forward or back in that console, or removed entirely. Beware of objects moving beneath them, though. I thought my wallet had run away, only to find it had slid under the cupholders.
There are even a couple of slots on the sides of the front console, suitable for thinner items like a logbook or a few Slim Jims (don't judge). For all its interior space, the glovebox isn't all that large, and neither is its opening. Best to use it for the vitals like driver registration, the manual and the like. For whatever else you need to store, be it inside or out, the Titan is up to the task.
