2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe set for Frankfurt
The new Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe has been previewed on the automaker's Facebook page in pseudo-spy pics of a prototype model undergoing track testing in Europe. Due to debut in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show along with the regular C-Class Coupe and arrive here late next year as a 2017 model, the 2-door C63 will be spun from the same basic platform as the recently introduced 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 Sedan, and is expected to offer both a 469-horsepower and a 503-horse version of the AMG-spec M177 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine in the C63 and C63 S, respectively. Both engines will be backed by the latest AMG SpeedShift MCT 7-speed sport transmission that offers shifter paddles and Controlled Efficiency/Sport/Sport+ modes plus a C63 S-exclusive "Race" setting.
Set to take on rivals like the Audi RS5 and BMW M4, the new Mercedes-AMG C63/C63 S Coupe is believed to have a more aggressively tuned suspension to reflect its sportier character and will offer the fully adjustable AMG Adaptive sport suspension option and the Dynamic Select operating system. Save for showing off the car's black-finish lightweight alloy wheels, these early images mask exterior/interior details of these upcoming Mercedes-AMG C63/C63 S Coupe models. However, both will feature an assortment of AMG-specific bodywork and cabin upfits similar to those seen on their 4-door counterparts.
