Making its official global debut next weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R has been teased in advance. The company releases this image of the motorsports-inspired Coupe on top of the base Mercedes-AMG GT and the hotter GT S variant. The new GT R reportedly adopts many of the chassis upgrades found on the track-only Mercedes-AMG GT3. This super coupe also will pack an even more potent version of the 4.0-liter AMG V8 Biturbo that makes 504 horsepower in the GT S. While rumors indicate the engine could be tuned to develop about 575 horses, we wonder if there’s any hidden message lurking in the “585” number plate on this car.

We’ll have full details on what to expect from this potential Porsche 911 GT3 RS rival as they break.
