Arriving in showrooms here next month, the 2017 Mazda CX-3 will continue to start at $20,860 for the front-drive Sport, the same as it did when it was introduced as a 2016 model. The Touring and Grand Touring versions of Mazda’s popular subcompact crossover SUV also enter their sophomore seasons with the same $22,860 and $25,890 opening figures. Upgrading any of the three with Mazda’s predictive i-Activ all-wheel drive will still add only $1,250.

While much carries over for the superb-handling, 5-passenger CX-3 including its 146-horsepower/2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, 6-speed automatic transmission and a long list of standard comfort/convenience touches, there are a few notable changes for 2017. The 18-inch alloy wheels that were previously only part of Grand Touring trim are now standard on the CX-3 Touring while the range-topping Grand Touring now offers Mazda’s i-Activesense safety technologies (radar cruise control, automatic braking, lane departure warning, high beam control, auto on/off headlights and rain-sensing wipers) for just $1,170, a $750 cut from last year.
