2017 Infiniti Q30 Active Compact previewed

Seen last month cloaked in a camouflage, the first official image of an undisguised 2017 Infiniti Q30 Active Compact has been released ahead of its Frankfurt Auto Show deubt. While Infiniti offered no additional details on this 5-door luxury hatchback, the release promised "a category-breaking vehicle concept developed for customers seeking urban individuality" with "dynamic drive characteristics."

"Design is a key pillar of the Infiniti brand - and the new Q30 Active Compact perfectly embodies this approach," noted Infiniti President Roland Krueger, who points out the distinctive exterior of the new Q30 will be complemented by an expressive interior with well-crafted trims.  "With our first ever entry in the compact car segment, we continue the product offensive and provide additional options for our discerning customers."

As we previously reported, the new Infiniti Q30 -- as well as its QX30 Crossover sibling -- will be based on a version of the Mercedes-Benz-developed "MFA" architecture found under the current A-Class/B-Class offerings. It will be built at the Nissan/Infiniti plant in Sunderland, England for export here sometime next year as a 2017.
