Volvo announced that 2016 S60 and V60 T6 Polestar models will be in showrooms here soon. Set for a summer launch, the U.S. will get 265 of the 750 limited-edition vehicles to be produced for the global market -- 115 more than our allocation of 2015.5 Polestar-spec cars that quickly sold out here. Sixty percent of the 2016 variants are expected to V60 Wagons and 40 percent S60 Sedans. While virtually identical to their predecessors, both models will offer one new twist. In addition to the original Rebel Blue and Black Sapphire exterior colors, Ice White and Bright Silver have been added to the palette.

Still spun from Volvo S60 and V60 T6 AWD R-Design models, motivation for the 2016 Polestar duo remains a massaged version of Volvo's 3.0-liter inline-six that features a revised twin-scroll turbocharger, more efficient intercooler and a freer-flowing exhaust plus a remapped computer that raises the engine's pony count from 325 to 345 and ups peak torque from 354 to 369 lb-ft. That motive force is shipped to each corner via a paddle-shift 6-speed automatic transmission working with a Polestar-modified Haldex all-wheel drive setup and traction/stability controls.

Rounding out the go-faster mix are a Polestar-optimized suspension, oversize Brembo brakes and a selection of interior bits that accentuate the high-performance ambiance of Volvos that sprint from 0-60 mph in well under 5.0 seconds and top out at an electronically limited 155 mph. Pricing for the 2016 Volvo S60 T6 Polestar will start at $60,640 while the 2016 Volvo V60 T6 Polestar opens at $62,240.
