2016 Nissan Maxima SR Midnight Edition: Stealthy value

Having been pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming customer response to last-summer’s limited-run “Midnight” package for the sporty Maxima SR, Nissan is bringing it back as a full factory option. Although a few details have changed, the combination of enthusiast-oriented cosmetic and functional upgrades contained in this new Midnight Edition once again will offer buyers impressive bang for the buck.

The new Maxima SR Midnight Edition features an expanded color palette that adds Pearl White, Brilliant Silver, Coulis Red and Deep Blue Pearl to the original Super Black exterior choices. Other features include a black rear spoiler and lower diffuser as well as black-finish 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45 rubber in place of the like-sized but diamond-cut/machined-alloy rims fitted on the standard Maxima SR. Inside, the Midnight Edition retains the SR’s Charcoal premium leather-appointed interior trim set off with Alcantara inserts on the seats.

If purchased separately, the collective cost of the Midnight Edition content would be $2,195 but it only adds $1,195 to the $38,535 base price a standard SR. The 2016 Nissan Maxima SR Midnight Edition package is now on-sale at dealers.
