Set for a reveal next month in Korea, the recast 2016 Kia Sorento promises to endow the automaker's popular mid-size sport utility vehicle with an even more sophisticated visual character. Although Kia has yet to comment on any potential changes to the Sorento's cabin, chassis or powertrain elements, it has confirmed that the upcoming iteration of its versatile 7-passenger hauler involved a collaborative styling effort between its studios in Korea, Germany and the U.S.
From its larger and more upright "tiger-nose" grille to a faster windshield and slimmer LED tail lamps, the 2016 Sorento displays more aggressive exterior cues than the 2015 model it replaces. To reinforce that bolder persona, the design team lowered the new Sorento's roofline, raised its beltline and rounded off its rear quarters while introducing more deeply sculpted side surfaces and rounded wheelwells.
The 2016 Kia Sorento is expected to go on sale here sometime in the first half of 2015. We'll know a lot more about the global version of Kia's best-selling SUV in a few weeks and anticipate getting our first look at the U.S. Sorento lineup in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
