The 2016 Jaguar F-Type lineup receives a number of meaningful enhancements for the new season aimed at improving performance and enhancing user appeal. The three big changes involve the availability of all-wheel drive and manual transmission as well as the addition of a new F-Type R Convertible. If that's not enough, all versions of Jag's sportiest offering benefit from a number of other upgrades to their standard equipment.

Adding a bit more control and capability under all conditions, R-spec F-Types will now come with Jaguar's sophisticated Instinctive All Wheel Drive system bolstered by the automaker's Intelligent Driveline Dynamics control system. Integrated with the powertrain, rear differential, center coupling and Dynamic Stability Control system, IDD maximizes the benefits of this on-demand AWD setup without compromising vehicle dynamics. In addition to duty on these 550-horspower supercharged V8 models, the package will be optional on all S variants powered by the 380-horse supercharged V6. Cosmetically AWD F-Type's of either stripe feature a slightly reshaped aluminum clamshell hood with unique vent configuration and bespoke body-color side sills and rear lower diffuser panels as well as "AWD" badging.

While few owners have found any real fault with the paddle-action QuickShift 8-speed automatic transmission, Jaguar decided to please those hardcore purists who prefer a manual gearbox by adding a new 6-speed on F-Types with either the 340- or 380-horsepower V6 engine. Co-developed with ZF, this compact, lightweight transmission features low-friction internals and short, direct throws. The 2016 F-Types also get new electric power assisted steering.

The 2016 Jaguar F-Type also scores big on the comfort/convenience/connectivity front. A 770-watt Meridian surround sound audio system, SiriusXM Satellite Radio & HD Radio, Jaguar Smart Key Keyless entry and 14-way power-adjustable seats are now standard across the entire lineup, as are restyled gauges and new InControl Remote, Protect and Apps connectivity and telematics functions that integrate with an owner's smartphone. All Coupes also add a panoramic glass roof and R Coupes have a power tailgate while S-spec variants get Configurable Dynamic Mode, a flat-bottomed racing-style steering wheel and driver-selectable Switchable Active Exhaust.  The 2016 Jaguar F-Type models arrive this spring. Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
