Combining cosmetic charm with functional flair, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Midnight Edition and Z71 Trail Boss head to showrooms this fall. Each adds its own personality to Chevy's popular mid-size pickup and will be offered on extended and crew cab bodies, in rear-drive/4WD configurations and with 2.5-liter/4-cylinder and 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engines as well as the new 2.8-liter Duramax 4-cylinder turbodiesel.

Reprising the noir theme that debuted on its larger Silverado sibling, the Colorado Midnight Edition matches black paint with a monochrome grille, Bowtie emblem and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Rounding out the Midnight mix are a black spray-on bedliner and soft, folding tonneau cover along with Chevrolet-logo sill plates.

Carrying on the tradition begun last year when it was first introduced, the 2016 Colorado Z71 Trail Boss package leverages the rugged looks and added capability of its dedicated off-road suspension towards more adventurous buyers. While available in a variety of colors, all Z71 Trail Boss models feature a new, distinctive roof-mounted "sport bar" with supplemental LED trail lighting to go along with prominent fender flares, tubular assist steps and black-finish 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler DuraTec 265/65 all-terrain tires. Completing the rough-and-ready Trail Boss kit are a black bowtie grille emblem, black spray-on bedliner and all-weather floor mats.

Pricing for the new 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Midnight Edition and Z71 Trail Boss packages will be announced closer to their actual on-sale dates. The 2015 Z71 Trail Boss upgrade adds $3,320 to the price of the basic Colorado.
