2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE: New pickup MPG champ
Building on its already class-leading fuel economy, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is adding a more efficient model to its 2015 lineup in the form of a new HFE variant. Arriving in showrooms this spring, the new Ram high-fuel-efficiency model will carry an EPA highway rating of 29 mpg - one more than the regular 1500 EcoDiesel -- and the highest of any pickup on the market. Rising by a similar count, its 21-mpg/city and 24-mpg/combined figures also are the new benchmark stats in those two categories.
Based on a Tradesman Quad Cab four-door with a 6-foot 4-inch bed, the 2015 Ram EcoDiesel HFE comes with a new class-exclusive tri-fold hard tonneau cover and wheel-to-wheel side steps. In addition to adding functionality, those elements also provided sufficient aerodynamic enhancement to let Ram recertify the truck with the EPA. In addition to its "HFE" tailgate badge, this super-frugal EcoDiesel also boasts 20-inch alloy wheels and will offer a unique body-color front fascia adapted from the Ram Express that's not available on the standard EcoDiesel model.
"Fuel efficiency is at the top of truck buyers' priorities, and Ram is the recognized benchmark for the industry," noted Bob Hegbloom, President and CEO - Ram Truck Brand. "Ram invested in powertrain technologies and those are paying real dividends in the wallets of our customers." Pricing for the new 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE will be announced closer to its on-sale date.
