Well, that was quick - literally and figuratively. Barely a week after announcing the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat would roll into showrooms this fall with an unprecedented 707 horsepower, Chrysler Group's performance division confirmed that testing verified by the National Hot Rod Association yielded an 11.2-second pass through the quarter mile at 125 mph - on the car's standard Pirelli P275/40ZR20 P Zero tires. According to Dodge, those stats make the Charger SRT Hellcat the fastest-accelerating muscle car ever produced. With its 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 warmed up, the Dodge Boys swapped the Challenger SRT Hellcat's stock rubber for a set of drag radials and dropped its quarter-mile time to just 10.8 ticks at 126 mph.

"With the new Challenger SRT Hellcat, we're reaching deep into our history and bringing back the notion from the muscle car era of the street and strip dual-purpose car," noted Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. "It wasn't long ago that a 10-second car, was a full-on race car. The new 2015 Dodge Challenger raises the bar to a level some of us never thought we'd see."
