Another hot hauler making its public debut at Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2015 BMW X6 M offers its distinctive Sports Activity Coupe take on the automaker's high-performance crossover/SUV formula. Based on the latest-iteration BMW X6 first seen at the 2014 Paris Auto Show, this Gen II X6 M pushes its visceral and visual limits to new levels.

A mechanical clone of the new 2015 BMW X5 M, the new X6 M shares the same upgraded 567-horsepower M-spec TwinPower Turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine, new 8-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic and comprehensive chassis upgrades found on its super-SUV cousin. The more adventurously styled X6 M also makes the benchmark 0-60 mph sprint in a mere 4.0 seconds and can hit an electronically limited top end of 155 mph. It, too, promises to match these newfound levels of power and quickness with significantly better fuel economy numbers as well as lower CO2 emission levels.

Save for the addition of a tasteful but functional liftgate spoiler, the new X6 M boasts all of the dedicated M-spec exterior styling enhancements found on the 2015 X5 M. That includes the choice of two new M-exclusive exterior colors: Long Beach Blue Metallic and Donington Grey Metallic. The same holds true for the X6 M's performance-tweaked interior where Merino and Nappa leather, Alcantara and aluminum accent trim are matched with a full array of M-design components including its multifunction steering wheel, bespoke instrument cluster unique M displays.

Highlighting the new X6 M's its generous roster of standards are a new Navigation system, Harman Kardon premium audio and 4-zone auto climate control. Other cool touches include an optional head-up display and a downloadable M Laptimer app that interfaces with the iDrive controller and a smartphone to record and allow access to a wide range of vehicle dynamics data that also can be shared with others via e-mail or various social networks. Headed to showrooms sometime in the spring, pricing for the 2015 BMW X6 M will start at $103,050.
