Embracing a powertrain formula that's already proven quite successful in the Continental line, the new 2015 Bentley Flying Spur V8 arrives in Geneva as a more affordable and fuel-efficient alternative to its W12-powered sibling. While sacrificing a bit of visceral intensity to that range-topping iteration, the new Flying Spur V8 is still quite capable of delivering plenty of exhilaration on demand, complete with all of the luxury trappings.

This latest Flying Spur comes with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes 500 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque compared to the twin-turbo W12's 616/590 output figures. Backed by the same 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and sending that power to all four wheels, it packs sufficient muscle to blast the Flying Spur V8 from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and carry it to a top speed of 183 mph while offering a 520-mile per-tank range. Like the W12, this new Flying Spur also features Bentley's computer-controlled air suspension system.

Distinctive exterior tweaks to the Flying Spur V8 include a black finish on the grille inserts, a signature red-center Bentley badge, figure-eight dual exhaust tips and unique 19-inch alloy wheels. In addition to the standard suite of on-board technology found in the Flying Spur W12, the V8 boasts several distinguishing cabin elements including its own split-color leather upholstery treatment, Dark Eucalyptus wood veneer and a single-piece three-passenger rear seat. Here, too, buyers can opt for a Mulliner Driving Specification upgrade that brings custom diamond-quilted upholstery, premium Dark Stained Burr Walnut and Piano Black trim elements, upgraded seats and more along with a 20-inch wheel/tire package.

The 2015 Bentley Flying Spur V8 will arrive in U.S. showrooms this fall. Pricing and EPA numbers will be released closer to the actual on-sale date.
