Audi has released pricing for the new 4G LTE connectivity packages that will be available starting next month when its new 2015 A3 sedan goes on sale here in America. Buyers will be able to choose from two different plans for the service provided by AT&T. The base 6-month contract will cost $99 and allow up to 5 gigabytes of data usage while the 30-month plan will include 30 gigabytes of data for $499. Audi says the plans reflect the previous usage and contract preferences of owners with 3G+ Audi connect in their vehicles.
"Having the choice of two data plans gives the consumer the opportunity to choose a contract that works best for their lifestyle and allows them to maintain connectivity in the vehicle for an extended period of time," said Scott Keogh, president of Audi of America. "The new AT&T data plans with 4G LTE connectivity will allow Audi drivers to enjoy seamless navigation, streaming and high-speed access to the Internet."
First Car to Offer 4G LTE
The new A3 sedan will be the first car in the U.S. to offer 4G LTE connectivity, beating the new Cadillac ATS Coupe to the showrooms by mere weeks. Audi says it will roll out similar 4G LTE service plans across its entire lineup as models are refreshed or redesigned. As a bonus, buyers of new A3 Sedans equipped with Audi connect will receive a free 6-month trial of the new 4G LTE service.
Previously announced, Audi also will become the first automaker to offer a Mobile Share data plan option to AT&T wireless customers who wish to add their new A3 to an existing Mobile Share plan. The A3, which is fitted with Audi's newest and most advanced Audi connect setup, also features a new mobile app that enhances interactivity between the car's MMI (MultiMedia Interface) and the driver's smartphone to permit even more hands-free/distraction-free operation.
