On sale this month as a limited-run offering of 1,000 units, the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg X Special Edition was created to help celebrate the tenth anniversary of the automaker's first mid-size SUV. Based on a Touareg TDI Lux trim grade, the Touareg X Special Edition adds a number of unique cosmetic touches to the already rather extensive Lux-grade's feature set.
Powered by a 204-horsepower/3.0-liter turbocharged Clean Diesel engine backed by an 8-speed automatic transmission, the all-wheel drive Touareg X Special Edition is finished in bespoke Moonlight Blue Pearl Paint, wraps 265/50 all-season tires around special 19-inch "Moab" alloy wheels and rounds out its exterior changes with LED taillights and special badging. Inside, the cabin features a triple-noir theme that matches Black Anthracite leather upholstery with Engineered Ebony Wood dash/door accents and Piano Black trim on the console which is set off by aluminum door sill plates and aluminum-look pedals. Pricing for the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg X Special Edition will start at $57,080 which represents a $1,195 bump over the standard Touareg TDI Lux model.
