2014 Jeep Cherokee Altitude unveiled
Expanding an already popular roster of special edition models that feature distinctive blackout exterior and interior treatments, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Altitude Edition made its debut appearances at the Houston Auto Show. This new Cherokee variant was joined on the stand by the latest, updated versions of 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude and 2014 Jeep Wrangler Altitude. The noir-themed trio goes on sale in the spring alongside of existing 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot Altitude models which are already in place.
Based on a Latitude trim level, the newest version of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee can be had in front-drive or 4-wheel drive with either the 184-horsepower/2.4-liter Tigershark 4-cylinder or the 271-horse/3.2-liter Pentastar V6, both paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The basic black accenting extends to its grille and greenhouse surrounds, lower front fascia, roof rails and badging, which are all set off with 18-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels and black interior trim. The exterior palette of the new Cherokee Altitude includes Brilliant Black Crystal Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat and Granite Crystal Metallic Clear Coat.

Building on Laredo spec, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude adds a touch more flair to the theme complementing its black-out exterior elements and 20-inch aluminum wheels with halogen headlamps, grey satin-gloss taillamp bezels, platinum chrome grille inserts, bright exhaust tips, body-color lower fascias/wheel flares/side-cladding/antenna and SRT-style roof rails. Rear-drive or 4-wheel drive, all versions are fitted with a 290-horse/3.6-liter Pentastar V6 backed by an 8-speed autoshifter and can be had in Billet Silver, Bright White, Brilliant Black Metallic Coat, Deep Cherry, Granite Crystal and Maximum Steel. Inside, the Grand Cherokee Altitude features black Capri leather seats with perforated suede inserts, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with shifter paddles, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen infotainment system and the comprehensive Security and Convenience Group that also includes a power liftgate, ParkView back-up camera and ParkSense rear back-up sensors.

The Sahara-based 2014 Jeep Wrangler Altitude is available in 2-door and 4-door Unlimited body styles, all with a 285-horsepower/3.6-liter Pentastar V6 paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or optional 5-speed automatic and a Command Trac dual-range transfer case. Offered in Amp'd Black, Granite Crystal and Hydro Blue, the trail-ready Wrangler matches matte and gloss black exterior bits with 18-inch alloy wheels, a prominent Wrangler hood decal and a body-color Freedom Top while offering a Dual Top and Sunrider soft top as options. The Wrangler Altitude's cabin features black leather seats with loads of black accent trim and also comes with the Wrangler Connectivity Group.
Pricing for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Altitude commences at $25,990 for the front-drive version, with the 4WD model opening at $27,990. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude begins at $36,285 with its 4WD alter-ego commanding $38,285. The 2-door 2014 Jeep Wrangler Altitude stickers at $32,590 with the 4-door Unlimited model starting at $36,390.
