Infiniti has now confirmed that deliveries of its dramatically recast 2014 Q50 sedan lineup will commence on August 5th, and not in July as originally scheduled. This mini-delay is the result of the automaker doing some last-minute fine-tuning on the vehicle that supplants the existing Infiniti G37 sedan. A heads-up rival to cars like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Cadillac ATS and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, this compact luxury 4-door will start at $37,606 for a rear-drive Infiniti Q50 with a 328-horspower/3.7-liter V6 and 7-speed automatic transmission. One step up, the Q50 Premium model opens at $40,455, while the sport-oriented Q50S begins at $44,105. On the gas/electric side of the ledger, the 2014 Q50 Hybrid Premium with its 360-horse combo powertrain commences at $44,855 and the Q50S Hybrid begins at $47,255. Opting for Infiniti's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system will add another $1,800 to the bottom line of each.

Revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January, the 2014 Infiniti Q50 will offer buyers an unprecedented level of advanced performance and driver-assist technologies including Infiniti Direct Adaptive Steering, Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Cruise Control with Full Speed Range as well as the innovative Active Lane Control. That Q50 first is a camera-based lane marker-detection system that helps ensure the car remains ideally positioned, particularly when it's travelling in a straight line.

The 2014 Infiniti Q50 also steps up its total connectivity game with the availability of Infiniti InTuition. This next-generation Human Machine Interface (HMI) is fully customizable and employs a dual touchscreen display to more effectively link driver preferences with various vehicle settings. Other standard or optional features on the new Q50 include a 14-speaker Studio on Wheels by Bose audio system, Advanced Staging Technology and Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.

Sadly, there's still no update on the arrival time of the eagerly anticipated high-performance version of the new Infiniti Q50. Still unnamed, this would-be range-topper is slated to pack a turbocharged V6 the automaker indicates will produce over 550 horsepower.
