2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid gives VW seven cars with 40+ mpg
Launching later this month, the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid moves to the head of the automaker's ever-expanding class of 40+ mpg offerings, which will now number an industry-leading seven vehicles. The newest member of VW's super-efficiency set earns its front-runner status on the strength of a stellar 48 mpg EPA highway rating delivered by its 1.4-liter TFSI turbo gasoline engine matched with an electric motor that drives the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
All other members of VW's elite econo clan are fitted with VW's well-proven 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel that generates 42 mpg highway stats in the Jetta TDI Sedan and Sportwagen with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual-clutch automatic, the Golf TDI that also earns 42 mpg highway marks with either transmission and the Volkswagen Beetle Coupe and Convertible that net 41 mpg numbers when fitted with the 6-speed manual gearbox.
Pricing for the 2013 Jetta Hybrid opens at $25,790 for the well-equipped Hybrid S, with the SE model starting at $27,785 and the top-line Jetta Hybrid SEL that brings numerous primo features including an RNS 315 touchscreen radio and navigation system, Fender Premium Audio System, Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED DRLs and Adaptive Front-lighting System, a rear-view camera and more commanding $30,120.
