Following the formal reveal of its Mazda6 Sedan sibling at the Moscow Auto Show, the 2014 Mazda Mazda6 Wagon rolls into the limelight at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. Like the Sedan, Mazda's new mid-size hauler shares the latest Kodo - Soul of Motion design language as well as the entire suite of the automaker's weight-reducing/efficiency enhancing SkyActiv technologies. Moving one step beyond, it too will offer the first production fitment of Mazda's new brake energy regeneration, i-ELOOP (Intelligent Energy Loop) system technology.
While the new Mazda6 Sedan showcased the firm's 160-horsepower/2.0-liter SkyActiv-G 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission, the Mazda6 Wagon carries its oil-burning alternative: the new 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D clean turbodiesel diesel engine which will be available in both 148 and 173 horsepower configurations. Although the Mazda6 Wagon still is not slated to appear in America, the Sedan will go on sale here sometime during the first half of next year as the 2014 Mazda Mazda6. Fitted only with the SkyActiv-G engine at launch, expect at least one of the SkyActiv-D motivators to see service here as well.
