Adding a new measure of enthusiast appeal to its fully redesigned mid-size luxury sedan, the 2013 Lexus GS 350 with F SPORT Package will make its formal debut next week at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. Although its 306-horsepower V6 engine and paddle-shiftable six-speed sequential automatic transmission carry over unchanged from the standard GS 350, this driver-focused F SPORT variant brings functional chassis changes and interior enhancements that should seriously crank up its excitement index.

Exterior changes to the GS 350 with F SPORT Package include an edgier front fascia treatment with unique grille insert, a functional lower diffuser and decklid spoiler in the rear plus 19-inch staggered-width alloy wheels that mount 235/40 tires up front and 265/35 rubber out back on rear-drive models. Fitting the F SPORT Package on an all-wheel-drive GS 350 will net 235/40 tires all around. Handling gets similarly robust upgrading, courtesy of a dedicated F SPORT-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), larger-diameter anti-roll bars, revamped bushings and bigger front brakes with high-friction pads. Rear-drive versions also get Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS), and for ultimate handling responsiveness, the F-SPORT Package can be augmented with an available Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system that adds Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) to the mix.

To maintain the proper performance character, the 2013 Lexus GS 350 with F SPORT Package brings a unique interior treatment that includes special perforated leather upholstery - including a distinctive Red Cabernet option - set off by a black headliner, striated aluminum accent trim and aluminum sport pedals. Highlighting the F SPORT's cabin mix is a new 16-way driver's seat that features power adjustability for the side bolsters, thigh support and seatback as well as a motorized four-way lumbar adjustment.
