Thinking small in a big way, the 2013 Chevrolet Spark will make its debut in Los Angeles as the new baby brother to the automaker's recently launched Chevrolet Sonic subcompact. Although 14 inches shorter than the Sonic, Chevy says the smallest car in its North American lineup will offer more interior space than any of its other minicompact peers when it goes on sale here next year. Chevrolet is holding back a few pertinent details on this four-passenger/five-door hatchback until the official reveal, but it has confirmed that the front-drive Spark will be fitted with an 83-horsepower/1.2-liter four-cylinder engine, offer the choice of a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional automatic and deliver exceptional fuel economy with either cog-changer.

Based on the Chevrolet Beat Concept originally displayed at the 2007 New York Auto Show, the production version of the U.S.-spec Spark will match its youthful exterior and interior styling with a host of personalization packages and options. In addition to items like a premium color-touchscreen radio, Chevrolet MyLink infotainment connectivity with Pandora and Stitcher internet radio, Bluetooth, heated leatherette seats and alloy wheels, the Spark also will come with a segment-leading five-year/100,00 mile powertrain warranty and GM's OnStar telematics.
