2012 Volkswagen Eos - 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show

The 2012 Volkswagen Eos made its formal public debut at the LA Auto Show displaying a host of visual and functional enhancements that bring it even more closely into line with Volkswagen's latest design philosophy. Key exterior changes to the retractable hardtop coupe are confined to its nose and tail. Up front, the 2012 VW Eos displays a lower, leaner character courtesy of a restyled fascia with wider-but-narrower air intakes complemented by a new grille with three brightwork bars and three shiny black louvers. Flanking it are new and more boldly profiled projector-beam headlamps that incorporate a prominent LED running light surround. The rear of the new VW Eos gets a similarly edgier treatment courtesy of a revamped fascia set off by new, two-element LED taillamps that also feature fiber-optic technology.

Inside, the 2012 Volkswagen Eos gains new trim and color options highlighted by standard "Matte Chrome" accents as well as walnut trim and Vienna leather upholstey on upline versions. Other new functional touches include a multi-function instrument panel/color display screen and a Keyless Access System that can also open/close the top at the touch of a button. Finally, the 2012 VW Eos offers a new, second-generation park assist system and a slick Light Assist system that automatically handles high/low-beam switching duties to match changing traffic conditions. As before, the retractable hardtop remains the only one in autodom to also include a built-in power sunroof.

Power for the 2012 Volkswagen Eos will continue to be provided by the existing 2.0-liter/200-horse turbocharged/direct-injected TSI four-cylinder engine. However, for the new year, it will drive the front wheels through VW's Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG) a dual-clutch automated manual that has become standard equipment. The 2012 VW Eos will go on sale early next year, although pricing details have not yet been released.
