2012 Toyota Yaris Hybrid - 2012 Geneva Auto Show

By Editors on March 5, 2012 2:15 PM

Sharing all of its powertrain and Hybrid Synergy Drive elements with the new Toyota Prius C, the 2012 Toyota Yaris Hybrid debuts in Geneva and will arrive in European showrooms this summer. The two cars are spun from the same platform architecture, but Europe's first full hybrid in the B-segment retains all of the bodywork and key interior design elements of a standard Yaris.

Like the Prius C, the Yaris Hybrid is fitted with a 1.5-liter Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine and the latest version of Toyota's HSD system that teams an electric motor and nickel-metal hydride battery pack with a new-gen CVT transaxle. Thanks to its scaled-down Hybrid Synergy Drive hardware, the new Toyota Yaris Hybrid sacrifices nothing in the way of people or cargo space to its conventional gasoline- and diesel-powered siblings.
