Adding a bit of exclusivity and an undeniable touch of sinister cool, the 2012 Porsche 911 Black Edition models will be arriving here in the spring. Porsche will only build 1,911 total Black Edition models for the world, and about 30 percent of them will be heading to America. As the name implies, both 911 Carrera Coupe and Carrera Cabriolet will only be offered in Black -- or optional Basalt Black Metallic -- exterior colors. Each also will wear two-color 19-inch 911 Turbo alloy wheels.

Inside, these 911 Black Edition variants carry on the basic ebony motif, set off with aluminum-look accent trim on the dash and air vents, stainless-steel doorsill plates with "Black Edition" script and a sport-design steering wheel. The cars also will be fitted with a BOSE Surround Sound System premium audio package that includes the Porsche touch screen Communication Management (PCM) system, XM Radio, XM NavTraffic and GPS based navigation.

Pricing for the 2012 Porsche 911 Black Edition Coupe will start at $82,250 while the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet will open at $91,300. Porsche says those figures represent a savings of approximately $6,000 over similarly-equipped 911 Carrera models.
