2012 Nissan Versa -- First look

By Editors on October 19, 2010 12:21 PM

Although it provided no mechanical details about the car, Nissan has just released this early teaser image of the vehicle that will replace its current U.S. entry level offering within the next 12 months. Based on this rendering, the 2012 Nissan Versa appears to be on the receiving end of a welcome dose of edgier and more distinctive exterior styling, which is almost certain to be accompanied by an equal measure of interior enhancement. The most affordable member of the Nissan's North American lineup will need exactly that kind of comprehensive redesign to help it keep pace with the likes of an impressive field of rivals that encompasses everything from the upcoming 2012 Chevrolet Aveo and a redesigned 2012 Hyundai Accent to the new Ford Fiesta and Mazda2 as well as the Toyota Yaris. Like the existing Versa, the 2012 iteration is expected to be available in both sedan and five-door body styles.
