Keeping it simple and affordable, Mazda announced pricing on its new 2011 MAZDA2 five-door hatchback lineup in New York. This well-appointed subcompact entry will be offered in Sport and Touring trim when it goes on sale this summer. The former will sticker at $14,730 when fitted with the standard five-speed manual transmission while the latter will open at $16,185. Opting for the four-speed automatic transmission in either will bump those numbers by $800.

All MAZDA2s will come with a 1.5-liter/100-horsepower four-cylinder engine and anti-lock brakes, dynamic stability/traction control systems, air conditioning, power windows/locks/mirrors, AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio package, keyless remote, 60/40 split/folding rear seat and more. Moving up to Touring spec brings premium cloth on the seats, steering wheel mounted audio/cruise controls, trip computer, fog lamps, a rear spoiler and a chrome exhaust finisher. It also mounts its 185/55R15 all-season tires on aluminum instead of steel wheels. Options on the 2011 Mazda MAZDA2 are limited to Crystal White Pearl paint, an auto-dimming mirror with compass and Homelink, cargo cover, with the Touring also offering wheel locks.
