From an exterior design perspective, the jump from fifth to sixth generation is maybe the smallest leap in the GTI's already conservative design evolution. Our favorite new features are the unbroken rectangular opening below the grille -- giving the GTI a lower, wider appearance -- and the split dual exhaust tips reminiscent of those on the first-generation VW R32.
